Accused in two cases of assault on doctors surrender

Two persons, accused in different cases of assault on doctors at Gaya and Madhepura, surrendered in separate courts today following strong protests by doctors.
In Gaya, Ranjit Yadav, the absconding son of an RJD MLA, accused of thrashing a doctor of a government hospital, surrendered before a district court here and was sent to 14 days' judicial custody.
Ranjit Yadav, son of Kunti Devi, RJD MLA from Aatri, surrendered before Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Sampat Lal in the case relating to assault of doctor of primary health centre at Neemchak Bathani on Wednesday.
The MLA was with her son when he arrived in the court to surrender.
Ranjit Yadav and his associates are accused of mercilessly beating up Satyendra Kumar Sinha, a doctor of the PHC.
As per complaint registered by the victim, Yadav and his accomplices allegedly asked the doctor to show them the attendance register of employees and when it was not shown to them, they severely beat up the doctor, hurling furniture at him. The victim is undergoing treatment at a government hospital in Gaya.

Krityanand Paswan, the officer in-charge of Belari police outpost, surrendered in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Birendra Kumar which granted him bail.
Paswan has been suspended by Madhepura Superintendent of Police Kumar Ashish.
Stung by the incident, doctors, both of government hospitals and private medical care facilities, remained on strike for the second consecutive day today to protest the assault and sought foolproof security for them.
