Kaimur superintendent of police Sunil Kumar Naik told said the woman faced charges of defalcation of Rs 2.25 crore and the police had gone in search of her at her home.
As the door was bolted from inside, police entered the house through a window and searched for the woman who could not be found during the four-hour search, he said.
Her fate came when the police by chance opened the wooden box packed with clothes and on removing them found her hiding in it, the officer said.
She woman was sent to jail after she was produced before a Chief Judicial Magistrate, the SP added.
