Achanta Kamal and Amalraj are best bet for India: Ghosh

His transition from junior to senior level has been smooth and he has got better of many of his fancied compatriots but Soumyajit Ghosh remains grounded as he gears up for the Commonwealth Championships.
En route to national championship title, the 19-year-old paddler humbled experienced players such as Anthony Amalraj and Achantha Sharath Kamal but the success has not gone into his head.
Ghosh says Kamal and Amalraj are still the best bet for India in the championship, starting May 5.
"I am feeling confident going into the championships and would like to win medal in front of my home crowd. But I am not putting a lot of pressure on myself," Ghosh said.
"I know I have beaten Anthony Amalraj and Sharath Kamal this players but they still remain our best bet in the competition," he added.
Ghosh, who has been sensational for India at the junior level. He along with Harmeet Desai and G Sathiyan scripted one of the best moments in the history of the Indian table tennis when they bagged a bronze medal in the junior world championships at Bahrain in 2011.

Capital's Thyagaraj stadium is the same place where the same trio secured a bronze in the Asian Junior Championships earlier in the year and the local fans would hoping for a similar feat if not better.
"I know the competition will be very tough. I have fond memories of playing here but junior level is all together different. We have to be at the top of our game to beat world class players," he said.
Ghosh has been practicing at the prestigious Peter Karlsson academy in Sweden for nearly three years now and is improving steadily in all aspects of the game.
