After battling for life for two weeks, a woman, who was attacked with acid by a few persons last month for resisting their sexual advances in Hooghly district's Piasara village, succumbed to her burn injuries at a hospital in Kolkata today.
Jyotshna Malik was a widow and lived in a hut in the village with her two sons. She and one of hers sons were allegedly attacked in the night of July 24, a police officer at Tarakeswar police station said.
Local residents alleged that the attackers, identified as Bama Malik, Lakhsmikanta Malik and Nure Ali have links to Trinamool Congress.
