Delhi Government has written to the Oil Marketing Companies to take strict and deterrent action against petrol pumps and LPG agencies found indulging in malpractices during the recent raids.
On the direction of Lt Governor Najeeb Jung, the Department of Food, Supplies and Consumer Affairs had conducted raids on 44 petrol pumps recently.
During the raid 26 petrol pumps were prosecuted for various malpractices like dispensing less petrol or diesel and non display of verification certificate of the nozzels installed at the petrol pump.
Besides this, 46 LPG agencies were inspected and 34 were prosecuted for supplying underweight gas cylinders, non- availability of weighing machine in the delivery vehicle and non display of verification certificate of the weighing machines.
All the violators have been prosecuted under the Legal Metrology Act, 2009.
"The raids will continue and no person found indulging in malpractices or cheating the consumers shall be spared," said SS Yadav, secretary-cum-commissioner.
Now the department has taken up the matter with all the Oil Marketing Companies to take action against these violators under their marketing guidelines and other rules relating to allotment of the pumps and agencies and to ensure that the interests of consumers are protected, Yadav said.
