Activist assault: Human Rights Comm issues notice to Goa govt

Goa Human Rights Commission has issued notices to the state government in connection with the alleged assault on a social activist here by bouncers, who were engaged by producers during the shooting of a film.
The Commission taking suo moto cognisance of the incident which took place on Tuesday, and has asked the authorities "why public road was blocked and human rights were curtailed" during the film shoot.
Social activist Dr Oscar Rebello was allegedly manhandled here by five bouncers (private security men) who were in-charge of the security during the shooting of an upcoming Bollywood movie "Mango".
The Commission in its notices to State Chief Secretary, Director General of Police and other agencies has sought their reply till July 9.
All the bouncers were arrested by Panaji police acting on the complaint by Rebello. He was assaulted while crossing the road, running parallel to the place where the film was being shot.
