A woman was injured in the ensuing scuffle.

Former MP and CPI(M) Politburo member, Brinda Karat later joined the protest and asked the senior police officers to take action against the policemen responsible for the scuffle.

The protesters led by NGO activist Jagmati Sangwan wanted to submit a memorandum at the CM's residence.

The protesters lifted the blockade when Rohtak ADC gave them in writing that the administration was recommending the withdrawal of awards given to the shelter house caretaker cum manager Yashwanti and remove her from government panels as demanded by the protesters.

Ninety four minors, mostly girls, were rescued from shelter homes run by an NGO, where some of the inmates were allegedly sexually abused, and its owner and her son-in-law arrested on May 9.

Earlier many people had participated in a 'Jan Sangathan Manch' at the local Chottu Ram Park to protest the incident.
