Political leaders and social activists today lashed out at saffron outfits and the BJP government at the Centre over incidents of lynching and demanded a legislation to contain such cases.
At a protest meet at Jantar Mantar here, senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh accused the NDA government of "inciting" mob-lynching and "spreading" hate-crime.
"We want to talk about electricity, water and medical issues but the NDA government wants to talk about cows, goats, cow dung, 'love jihad' and anti-romeo squads," he said.
Criticising the Narendra Modi-led NDA government, Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha said that the fours years of the Modi dispensation have been very difficult for the country but "we will ensure that this is their last term".
"I had not heard about the word 'mob lynching' until four years back and now I hear about incidents of mob lynching everyday," he said.
CPI(M) MP Md Salim accused the Centre of dividing the nation in the name of religion and spreading hate crimes and promoting incidents of mob lynching on the basis of rumours.
