The representatives of the NGOs including Participatory Research in Asia, Church's Auxiliary for Social Action and Voluntary Action Network India, decided to take the legal recourse in a meeting yesterday.
"A group of civil society leaders will file a writ petition in Delhi High Court challenging the notification's section 14(1)(g) which covers foreign funded organisations," they said in a statement.
Manoj Fogla, one of the representatives, said the clause that brings organisations receiving government funds will "not be an issue of contention".
As per the rules notified recently by Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), NGOs receiving more than Rs one crore as government grant and donations above Rs 10 lakh from abroad will be under the ambit of the Lokpal.
