The illustrious son of veteran actor Barun Chanda, said to a question, "I somehow don't consider of poems as epics," during the question-answer session after the launch of his debut novel Anchor.
Having themed his novel on the disappearance of a surrendered Maoist, Avik agreed it was borne out of his indirect knowledge of such people but it was more of a literary than journalistic piece of work.
Anchor is a thriller, but not didactic, Avik said hinting nothing should be forced down the throat for the reader.
"Having been already featured in prestigious Kolkata Literary Meet, Anchor has already grabbed eyeballs. Launching the book here feels we are now part of the contemporary literary movement," Story chief Sidharth Pansari said.
