The actor, 33, and two of his friends were caught in a Hollywood motel room around 5am on Friday where they were allegedly using crystal meth, TMZ reported.
It is the latest trouble for the actor, who went missing in May last year only to resurface later at a rehab.
He then checked himself out of the facility against doctor's orders and disappeared once more for several weeks.
Stahl was also arrested last December at a Hollywood porn shop for allegedly touching himself in a private booth in what he later dubbed a "misunderstanding".
