Actress abduction, assault case: Kerala CM assures justice

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan today said investigation in the sensational actress abduction and assault case was going on in the "right direction" and culprit, however high or mighty, will not be spared.
"Howsoever big the fish is, it will fall in the police net," Vijayan said while addressing a meeting of women leaders of various organisations here.
The actress, who also worked in Tamil and Telugu films, was abducted and allegedly molested inside her car for two hours by the accused, who had forced their way into the vehicle on February 17.
The investigation team has been given "complete freedom" and they can move forward courageously, the chief minister said, adding the probe was going in the "right direction".

Vijayan said police has already arrested the key accused and assured that the wrong-doers would not be spared.
The CPI(M)-led LDF government in Kerala was going ahead with plans to make the state women-friendly, he said.

Gender justice would be implemented in the state and the drawbacks in its implementation would be resolved, he said in a press release.
All efforts would be made by the government to ensure that women were able to move fearlessly at any place and time independently.
The assurance in this regard was made at a meeting of leaders of various women's organisation here.
The meeting was called in the backdrop of the government completing one year in office.

The functioning of orphanages, home for destitutes and the poor would be improved, Vijayan said, adding that the government would take stern steps to abolish practise of child labour, prevalent in some places.
