District administration sources said the worst affected block was Chatna I and II, followed by Saltora, kanki and Bonogram.
Water scarcity has also hit the tribal areas of Ranibandh, Khatra, Simla and Sarenga which fall in the Jangalmahal area.
Additional district magistrate Moumita Basu said the block development officers have been asked to tackle the situation on a prority basis. Water tankers were also being sent to help the people in the affected areas.
In Bankura town too water supply has been affected due to the extreme heat.
