A letter in this regard has been sent by the society residents to Cuffe Parade police.
The letter said local military authorities installed Infra Red surveillance cameras on August 16 on an outer wall right in front of the gate of Adarsh building in upscale Colaba in South Mumbai.
"One of the CCTV cameras is directly focussing towards main entrance of the society and beyond that...Members of Adarsh society strongly protest this action of the local military authorities, which tantamounts to invasion of privacy of the society and trespassing into the society's domain," the letter signed by society's secretary R C Thakur, a retired defence estate official, said.
The communication, sent to Deputy Commissioner of Police of Zone 1 Ravindra Shishve, also said "we feel that while safety and security is everybody's concern one has to be very careful to ensure that other's privacy is not invaded."
The residents requested the police to take cognizance of this letter and take necessary action to protect the privacy of the residents.
