ADB to grant loan of Rs 1200 cr for reconstruction of U'khand

The ADB will grant a loan of Rs 1,200 crore to Uttarakhand government for the reconstruction of damaged infrastructure in disaster-hit areas of the state.
A loan agreement to this effect was signed between the state government and the ADB here today with Chief Minister Harish Rawat expressing hope that the funds received from the institution will add momentum to the efforts to rebuild devastated infrastructure especially roads in affected areas.
Time-bound implementation of identified projects will be ensured with the funds received from the Bank, Rawat assured ADB chief Takehiko Nako when he met the chief minister at Bijapur state guest House after signing the MoU.
Chief Secretary Subhash Kumar later said the funds will be spent on rebuilding 2,400-km of roads, repairing water supply lines in 10 townships, rehabilitating and restoring tourist infrastructure damaged in five districts including trekking routes.
Besides all this, the funds will also be used to construct 50 helipads, heliports and helidromes for relief and rescue operations in case of a natural calamity in future, he said.
