Adequate rainfall fills Gangapur dam up to 77 pc

Nashik city's main source for drinking water, Gangapur dam was filled up to 77 per cent, thanks to bountiful rainfall this month and in June.
According to officials in the district collectorate, good downpour has also helped in storing adequate water in the 24 water reservoirs in the district.
Several cusec of water was released in river Godavari from the Gangapur dam, which has resulted in increase of the water level of Jayakwadi reservoir in Marathwada region.
In the past 24 hours, the district has recorded 555.4 mm rainfall. Tribal-dominated Peint taluka got 135.3 mm rains, while Surgana tehsil recorded 117.2 mm rainfall.
Other places in Nashik district, like Igatpuri, Kalwan, Trimbakeshwar, Nandgaon and Chandwad also recorded good rains.
