Over a thousand adhoc teachers in Nagaland today launched a sit-in-protest outside the Directorate of School Education today demanding regularisation of their services.
The adhoc teachers in the state numbering around 1,166 converged outside the Directorate office here under the banner of All Nagaland Adhoc Teachers Group (ANATG) against non-fulfilment of their demands made through a representation submitted on March 23 last.
"We were appointed as graduate teacher, primary teacher, hindi teacher and also as instructors and drawing teachers in different years till December 2012 on adhoc basis (fixed pay)," ANATG president Rguotsolie told reporters.
He said despite serving for so many years their services were not regularised.
"We have been working in fixed pay of Rs 6000 since our appointment in 2010 and now the prices of commodities have inflated but not our salaries," said its general secretary Bendang Temsu.
