Under this programme, tur will be sold at this rate at 10 rural and 9 urban centres from tomorrow onwards.
"After discussing the issue with the Uttar Pradesh Dal Association, it has been decided that during this festival season, the pulses will be made available to consumers at economical rates," read a statement issued by District Magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma.
According to the statement, special counters will be opened by the district supplies department for sale of tur dal at lower rates at 10 block headquarters and 9 urban localities.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, who yesterday called a meeting of the inter-ministerial group for the second time in a week, said as much as 5,000 tonnes of imported pulses have already arrived and are being distributed to states and another 3,000 tonnes are on the way.

Sharma has also asked supply and mandi departments to start a joint operation to check hoarding at traders' premises and has warned of action against those who flout rules on stock limits for tur dal.
In cases of violations, Sharma said, the stock will be confiscated.
