Dinesh Chandra Verma was assaulted yesterday by people from Babroti Nashirpur village who also threatened to shoot him dead, they said.
The villagers had asked for records about their panchayat in the block office and also tore some documents.
Other block employees rescued Verma who then approached the district magistrate, on whose direction an FIR was lodged.
Kotwali Stataion Officer Sheovri Singh said the FIR was lodged against the accused for tearing government records, threatening, abusing, and using revolver with the intention to murder.
