"Deeply saddened by the demise of the legend Shashi Kapoor. He was a versatile actor both in theatre and in movies.
"I was highly impressed by his par excellence acting in Hindi and English cinema which will be remembered by generations," Advani said in his condolence message.
The former deputy prime minister also sent his heartfelt condolences to Kapoor's children and other members of the family.
