K Vijay Kumar, advisor to Jammu and Kashmir Governor, today visited the martyrs' graveyard at Naqashband Sahib here today to offer floral tributes to the 1931 martyrs, other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
Kumar laid wreaths over the graves of the martyrs.
"Chief Secretary B V R Subrahmanyam, Director General of Police S P Vaid, Divisional Commission Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan, IGP Kashmir S P Pani, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Syed Abid Rasheed Shah and other senior officers were also present on the occasion," an official spokesman said.
He said a contingent of J&K Police posted the bugle and presented the ceremonial guard of honour to the martyrs.
Later, a local delegation met the Advisor and Chief Secretary and apprised them about the various issues being faced by them. Kumar gave them a patient hearing and assured them that all their genuine demands will be looked into on priority.
Kumar said that the government is committed to restore the pristine glory of Naqashband Sahib shrine and the adjacent historical mosque. He said the Shrine will be preserved keeping in mind its historical significance.
Earlier, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah had questioned the Governor's advisors for skipping the event, which is listed as a state function and attended by the chief minister when an elected government is in place.
