Advocate's killer identified: police;lawyers abstain from work

Police has identified the killer of advocate Kishore Chanda, whose murder led to lawyers abstaining from work across West Bengal today.
DIG of police C S Lepcha told newsmen here that the motive of the killing of the well-known lawyer, who was attacked at his home here on Monday and his throat slit, has also been found and a hunt has been launched to nab him.
"A sketch of the killer has been made and it is expected that the killer will be arrested soon," he said.
West Bengal Bar Council vice chairman Goutam Das said Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who is also the Home Minister, has assured early arrest of the killer.
Lawyers at Calcutta High Court abstained from work today along with their counterparts in all other courts in the state seeking arrest of the culprits.
"We abstained from normal work as per the state Bar Council's decision to protest the killing," Calcutta High Court Bar Association general secretary Suranjan Dasgupta said.
