The accused, identified as Jumah Khan (28) a resident of Afghanistan was arrested on Monday at 5:00 PM by the Special Cell from near Oberoi Hotel flyover when he had reached there to handover the consignment to one Arif Ali (30), a resident of Sikar, Rajasthan who also has been nabbed.
"72 capsules and 50 grams of heroin (a total of 712 grams of heroin) have been recovered from their possession. The value of the contraband is about 2 crores in the International market," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav.
"This syndicate used novel modus operandi for transporting the contraband. After the carrier received the drugs in form capsules from the handler, he swallowed the same and reached India with the capsules in his stomach. On reaching Delhi he excreted the capsules through stool and delivered the same to the buyer," said Yadav.
During interrogation Jumah Khan allegedly disclosed to police that on the directions of his handler Habib, a resident of Jalalabad in Afghanistan, he had received 80 capsules of Heroin.
He then contacted Habib over phone, who gave him the number of Arif for delivery of the consignment. He opened 8 capsules and took out heroin to be produced as sample. He then contacted Arif and fixed their meeting near Oberoi Hotel where they were apprehended. He was promised 1500 US dollars for the delivery by Habib.
