AFL plans to make optical fibre solutions for India

Fibre-optic cable manufacturer AFL today said it has inked pact with Bengaluru based startup Citadel Intelligent Systems to make optical fibre solutions in India.
"AFL has partnered with Citadel Intelligent Systems Pvt Ltd (CIS), a Bangalore-based startup, to manufacture optic fibre solutions for India and rest of the world," AFL and Citadel said in a joint statement.
Headquartered in South Carolina, AFL has operations in the US, Mexico, Canada, Europe, Asia and Australia. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fujikura Ltd of Japan.
AFL sells products that includes fibre optic cable and hardware, transmission and substation accessories, outside plant equipment etc, in over 130 countries.
"Globally, AFL has led the way with innovative products that deliver cutting edge solutions for its customers. We believe that our partnership with CIS will open new avenues for us, help in tapping new customer segments and remain competitive in the business," AFL President and Chief Executive Officer Jody Gallagher said.
CIS manufactures customised fibre optic interconnectivity solutions for enterprises and telecom Networks, smart cities, security and surveillance system etc.
"With our collective industry experience and technical expertise, we are confident of fostering the global optical fibre market with our unparallelled products and solutions. As the recent studies suggest the sector will reach a 2 billion USD revenue mark by 2019," CIS CEO and MD, K K Shetty said.
