"As I am of cabinet rank I should get adequate security," Mohilary told PTI, criticising the government for reducing his personal security cover and guards at his house since yesterday.
"With the withdrawal of the security personnel, my life is in danger. Assam government is creating an atmosphere for my political murder before the upcoming Assembly elections in the state next year," the former militant leader-turned- politician alleged.
At the one-day session of the BTC during the day, the issue of reduction in security personnel of the council chief and its deputy chief was discussed and a resolution was unanimously passed, which was supported by its opposition leader Rwngwngwra Narzary.
Later, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi asked Chief Secretary Vinod Kumar Pipersenia to inquire into how Mohilary's security cover was lowered without consent of the appropriate authorities.
Gogoi also asked Pipersenia to restore security cover to the BTC Chief to its earlier position which has been done immediately, an official release said tonight.
