"A Passport Seva Laghu Kendra (PSLK) would be opened at Indore on February 22. Residents of 15 districts of Indore and Ujjain divisions may get passports from this centre," director of the passport division of MEA said here today.
Currently, residents from these districts have to visit the regional office at Bhopal to get a passport.
Sobti said that initially, around 250 people are expected to visit the Indore facility every day to get passports.
Meanwhile, Indore Development Authority (IDA) chairman Shankar Lalwani informed that the PSLK office has been developed on 11,000 sq ft in the IDA's newly-constructed multi-storey building named 'Anand Van'.
He informed that this space was taken on rent by the Passport Department at Rs 2.37 lakh per month.
