The Airport Authority of India (AAI) has assured that all possible steps are being taken to develop Agartala airport into an international hub, the CPI (M) said today.
The assurance came when a CPI(M) MP from Tripura, Khagen Das, met AAI Chairman-cum-Managing Director in Delhi yesterday, the party said in a release.
"All possible steps are being taken to develop Agartala airport into an international hub with facilities like a 9,000 ft long runway, one terminal building with aerobridge facility, night hanger etc," the release said quoting the CMD.
The MP apprised the CMD of infrastructural bottlenecks faced by North-East in general and Tripura in particular.
Official sources said the state government recently acquired necessary land for the airport and paid compensation to land holders.
