Age no bar for quest for knowledge

In a proof that age is no bar for the pursuit of knowledge, a 50-year old employee of the Highways Department in Tamil Nadu has passed the SSLC examination along with his teenaged son in Gobichettipalayam here.
Gunasekaran, a road worker of the department, and his son Tamizh, a class X student of Government Higher Secondary School at Polavakalipalayam, appeared as private and regular candidate respectively in this year's SSLC examination, results of which were declared yesterday.
The father passed with 234 marks out of 500 while his son secured 459 marks, officials said.
Gunasekaran, a middle school drop out, said he had cleared the eighth standard examination also as a private candidate a few years ago.
The man said he would also write the Class XII examination after two years along with his son as he wanted to improve his prospects for promotion.
