To nab those indulging in violence and causing damage to properties during protests, police will take assistance of a panel of videographers to film the agitations, and their statements will also be recorded before magistrate.
"Ministry of Home Affairs has send a letter to the chief secretaries of all the states to follow certain guidelines in the wake of Supreme Court order," said R K Vishwakarma, Inspector General of Police (law and order).
He said that in the letter it has been stated that during violent agitations there was destruction of public and private property.
As per the guidelines, each police station would be empowered to maintain a panel of local video operators who could be made available at short notices, he said.
Immediately after the violence, police officer concerned would authenticate the video by producing the videographer before the sub-divisional or executive magistrate, who would record his statement, he said.
