"He also requested for Canadian investment in cold storage infrastructure and technology for ecologically sustainable cold chains," an official statement said today.
A Canadian delegation, led by its Minister for Agriculture and Agri-Food Gerry Ritz, called on Singh in his office here and discussed about technology for enhancing India's production and productivity in the agriculture sector.
Singh also requested Canadian side to explore possibilities for importing agricultural commodities including tomatoes and grapes, from India to reduce trade imbalance between the two countries, it added.
Ritz assured that his country would also like to share its technology for enhancing India's production and productivity in the agriculture sector.
Singh also asked his Canadian counterpart to expedite finalization of the Work Plan paving way for the visits of scientists from both countries to each other's institutions.
The meeting was also attended by Animal Husbandry Secretary Anup Kumar Thakur, Secretary Agricultural Research and Education S Ayyappan.
