These works, spread over 12 poll-bound districts, will be undertaken under the Mukya Mantri Gramsadak Yojana (MMGY).
Government Resolutions (GR) related to the projects were released yesterday.
As many as 26 Zilla Parishads are completing their terms by April 2017. Hence, elections in these district-level governing bodies are expected in March 2017.
Before the announcement of polling dates, which will trigger code of conduct, banning announcement of projects, the state government has sanctioned road construction and repair works in these districts.
Such a decision is certainly aimed at taking political mileage ahead of elections. However, it will not benefit only a handful of people, but also the common man, said a senior BJP leader.
