Ahir expresses concern about rising crime in Yavatmal

Union minister Hansraj Ahir today warned of a stringent action against police and RTO officers if they fail to check the rise in crime in Maharashtra's Yavatmal district.
Ahir today held a meeting at the Government resthouse here which was attended by BJP MLAs Madan Yerawar, Raju Todsam, Sanjeevreddy Bodukwar and Rajendra Najardhane, the SP Akhilesh Kumar Singh and Regional Transport Officer Shyam Zole.
The minister later told reporters that he expressed concern about the frequent incidents of crime such as murder, rape, robbery, etc.
He also expressed worry about illegal passenger transport, overloading of coal, smuggling of liquor and cows and other traffic related crimes.
Ahir warned that stringent action would be taken if the situation did not improve.
He would hold a joint meeting of the SPs and RTOs of Yavatmal and Chandrapur districts shortly, he told reporters.
