The Ahmadiyya Muslim community will organise its fifth peace symposium here later this month as part of its efforts to promote peace and harmony in the world.
A delegation of the community conveyed the same to Governor N N Vohra here today, an official spokesman said.
He said the delegation, led by Gohar Hafeez Fani, invited the governor to the symposium, saying it was one of the flagship events of the community and would be held in Jammu on February 18 to deliberate on "Justice in an Unjust World".
The delegation presented several books to the governor, who urged the community to continue their sustained endeavours in spreading the message of peace and harmony in the state, the spokesman said.
A delegation of Jammu and Kashmir Handicapped Association (JKHA), led by its president Abdul Rashid Bhat, also met the governor and raised several demands, including urgent enforcement of the "Persons with Disability Act", establishment of provincial directorates for the welfare of the physically disabled in Srinagar and Jammu, and a special employment drive for the educated handicapped.
Vohra assured the delegations that he would have an early meeting with Social Welfare Minister Sajjad Gani Lone to seek urgent resolution of their issues.
