Dismissing suggestions that it was fuelling dissidence in Mamata Banerjee's party, Congress today termed as "totally baseless" reports that three Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha members secretly met Sonia Gandhi's political adviser Ahmed Patel.
"I have not met any Trinamool Congress MP from West Bengal. It is totally baseless," Patel told PTI.
Reports quoting rebel Trinamool Congress MP Kunal Ghosh had it that three Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha members, including two former Union Ministers, met Patel in Delhi and the meeting took place at Trinamool MP and former railway minister Dinesh Trivedi's residence.
Former minister of state for urban development Sougata Roy and Somen Mitra were the other party MPs present at the meeting, Ghosh had claimed.
Mitra is perceived to be a rallying point for Trinamool dissenters.
