Addressing a press conference at the residence of Congress candidate for Kaithal seat Randeep Singh Surjewala here today, Union's president Bhupinder Mann said interests of farmers had been ignored by all other political parties and now they hopeful that the Congress would take care of their interests.
He said BJP had promised to implement the recommendations of the Swaninathan Committee before the elections but had failed to fulfil its promise.
Mann further said the farmers were not getting adequate price for their crops.
Union's Haryana unit president Guni Parkash said several farmers had got their crops insured in the state but the insurance companies were not honouring the claims of those whose crops had been damaged due to natural calamities.
