Joseph, who took up the new assignment at a local office in New Delhi on Monday, will serve as chairman and managing director of the Kolkata-based state-owned non-life insurance firm for three months.
When contacted by PTI, Joseph confirmed having taken up the new assignment as CMD of NIC from its local office in New Delhi.
"I will shortly visit NIC's corporate office in Kolkata to understand what their priorities are," Joseph said.
Incidentally, it happens to be the third temporary appointment of the NIC CMD within the past one year. The CMD's post of NIC has been lying vacant for almost last one year.
The state owned non-life insurance industry still has important vacancies.
The government has already advertised for the three vacancies of members at IRDA. While the post of member (life) has been lying vacant for last one year, the posts of member (non-life) and member (finance) will fall vacant shortly.
