Owing moral responsibility for the Congress' debacle in Odisha panchayat polls, AICC general secretary B K Hariprasad has quit from his post.
"I have resigned as party general secretary and from all posts I hold," he told PTI.
Hariprasad said he owns the responsibility for the party's poor performance in the panchayat polls in Odisha, where he was the in-charge.
He was also the Congress' in-charge in Chhattisgarh.
The Congress leader said he would meet party president Sonia Gandhi after she returns from abroad.
Hariprasad, however, said he is a total Congressman and will not quit the party for which he has worked for the last 43 years.
Sources said Hariprasad had been facing a revolt by several party MLAs in Odisha for the last few months.
In the Odisha Zilla Parishad elections, that concluded last month, the Congress managed to grab 60 seats, compared to 128 which it won in 2012 elections. BJD secured 473 seats and BJP 297 seats.
