AIIMS-Bhopal to be among nation's best med institutes: Vardhan

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences being set up in Bhopal would be counted among the country's best institutions, said Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Harsh Vardhan here today.
"The under-construction AIIMS, Bhopal will be counted among the best institutions in the country in view of the facilities to be made available," he was quoted as saying in an official release issued here.
The Minister, who was addressing a meeting of officials, visited various AIIMS departments including ENT, pathology and X-Ray as well as interacted with patients, the release said.
Vardhan also sought information about the available medical equipments and visited the administrative block as well as the medical college building to interact with students.
Earlier, AIIMS Bhopal's Director Sandeep Kumar informed the minister that out of an approved Rs 518 crore worth of civil works, Rs 400 crore were spent on construction of buildings, the release said.
The total cost of the AIIMS Bhopal is Rs 815 crore, including the cost of construction as well as equipment. At present two batches study in the medical college, the release said.
He also informed that a total of 4,000 posts have been sanctioned for the premier institute and efforts are on to fill them on a priority basis.
