In a major surgery, doctors at the AIIMS have successfully removed an iron rod, which had pierced into the body of a 30-year old man after he fell from the fourth floor of an under construction building here.
The incident occurred yesterday evening in the Timarpur area in South East Delhi when the man fell on the iron rods placed on the second floor of the building.
"An iron rod pierced into the part of the body, between arms and chest and came out from the other side of his body after breaking the shoulder blades. He was lucky as none of his main arteries got affected, probably that was the reason why he remained alive," Amit Gupta, spokesperson of AIIMS, said.
"The rod has been taken out and the patient's condition is stable now," he said.
The patient is said to be mentally unstable.
According to Gupta, the incident came into light this morning after the watchman of the building went to the second floor of the building for some work.
