AIIMS today added two state-of-the-art ambulances to its fleet which are fully equipped with life-saving equipment and designed for customised use for parents who have suffered trauma.
The Advance Cardiac Life Support ambulances were inaugurated by Rajya Sabha MP Karan Singh at the Jai Prakash Narayan Apex Trauma Centre of the AIIMS.
They were procured from a donation of Rs 84.75 lakh by Singh under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) Fund.
"The two state-of-the-art ambulances were procured for transporting patients from the Trauma Centre to main AIIMS or any of its centres or for transporting any patient being received during disaster situations or any such contingency.
"Both these ambulances are customised to meet the needs of any patient who has suffered a trauma and is in a dire need for transportation elsewhere," AIIMS spokesperson Amit Gupta said.
"It is one of its kind ambulance for the AIIMS. Its fabrication allows the back portion to be separated from the main part of the vehicle to be attached with another," Gupta said.
These ambulances are fully equipped with all life-saving equipment such as transport ventilator, portable and fixed oxygen equipment with key wrench and trolley, oxygen administration apparatus, multi-parameter monitor, infusion pumps, collapsible chair-cum-trolley stretcher and portable suction devices, he said.
It conforms to the standards of safety proposed by the Ministry of Transport, Gupta said.
