"The Centre encourages setting up of AYUSH dispensaries, hospitals and AIIMS-like institutions in states. The first AIIMS-like hospital of AYUSH is being set up in Delhi and it is likely to become fully operational in 3-4 months," Minister of State for AYUSH Shripad Yesso Naik said in a written reply.
The Minister said that under National AYUSH Mission, the Centre provides funds to states for setting up a 150-bed AYUSH Hospital in each district and funds are also given for running and maintenance of such hospitals.
"This includes Rs 1,752.04 lakh for upgradation of 365 AYUSH hospitals and Rs 2,702 lakh for upgradation of 5,159 dispensaries. During the same year, a total of Rs 2,821.37 lakh has been approved for upgradation of undergraduate and postgraduate AYUSH educational institutions," Naik said.
Elaborating on research schemes under AYUSH, the minister said that Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) and Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM) have signed MoU with Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) for undertaking collaborative research projects.
