AIIMS signs MoU with varsity to set up health care centre

AIIMS has entered into an agreement with a Bangalore-based university seeking to establish an integrative health care centre at the premier medical institution.
Under the MoU signed today, AIIMS will seek technical collaboration from Swami Vivekananda Yoga and Anusandhana Samsthana (S-VYASA) for setting up the facility.
The AIIMS centre for integrative health care will identify areas of research (immediate and long-term), evolve consensus mechanisms to harmonise administrative and financial processes and approvals through mutual discussions.
It will also develop a policy perspective for use in the fields of yoga, cardiac care, physiology, cancer research, geriatric medicine, dental education, infectious diseases, ayurveda, clinical care in conjunction with conventional modern medicine, officials said.
The two institutes will also undertake scientific research collaborations to promote development of new affordable technologies and provide support for diffusion of the technologies into the social system.
The two sides will seek to jointly support and forge partnerships with industry for the development and evaluation of products for public health through public - private partnerships within the framework of AIIMS rules.
"The MoU represents a milestone for AIIMS as it seeks to establish the AIIMS Centre for Integrative Health. It is expected that the centre will be operationalised by International Yoga Day 2016," said M C Mishra, Director AIIMS.
