Ailing female jumbo dies

A female elephant, who was ailing for sometime, died near Kadapan village near Utei river under Kotagarh sanctuary in Odisha's Kandhamal district, a forest official said today.
The pachyderm was very weak and sick when it was spotted in Belghar area five days ago, barely able to move properly, Divisional Forest Officer, Balliguda, V Kartik said.
"We caught it and started treatment but the elephant could not be saved. It died yesterday," he said.
After autopsy it was found that the intestine of the elephant was badly damaged due to some ailment.
