AIMIM will go it alone in the forthcoming Hyderabad civic body polls, its president Asaduddin Owaisi said today and urged dalits and backward castes to support the party.
"Our party will go it alone in the elections of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC)," Owaisi, who is also Hyderabad MP, said here today.
"There will not be an alliance with any other party," he said while addressing a meeting of Party Primary committee president and workers at the headquarters of All India Majlis e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) here.
Those who believe in Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar's ideology would support AIMIM as the so-called secular parties are antagonists of Dalits, Muslims and backward classes (BC), he alleged.
"It should be ensured that most number of Dalits and BC candidates are elected on AIMIM ticket," he said.
The GHMC elections are scheduled to take place in December 2015.
On the ongoing strike by the municipal sanitary workers in Hyderabad, the MIM chief said the civic body is responsible for sanitation and employees have resorted to strike as it failed to keep its promises. He also urged the municipal unions to call off the strike.
"People are facing inconvenience and unbearable stench is coming from garbage scattered on roads across the twin cities (Hyderabad and Secunderabad) during the holy month of Ramzan," he said.
