AINRC functionary booked for alleged sexual harassment of girl

The Chairman of Puducherry Planning Authority and ruling All India NR Congress (AINRC) functionary, K S P Ramesh, was today booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act for alleged sexual harassment of a minor girl, police said.
Senior SP V J Chandran said the case had been booked under Section 10 of the POSCO Act following a complaint from the 14-year-old girl, a Class IX student in the school in which Ramesh is the 'Correspondent' (administrator).
The girl had accused him of sexually abusing her for last four years, police said. She made the complaint to the 'Childline' on November 27 as she could not bear the continued harassment.

Volunteers of the 'Childline' produced her before the Child Welfare Committee here and after conducting inquiry with the victim and recording her statement, the committee directed the D Nagar police to register a case against Ramesh.
Ramesh is non-official chairman of the PPA, a statutory body having the authority to approve buildings and other infrastructure in Puducherry.
Further investigation is on, police said.
CPI-M Puducherry unit has demanded Ramesh's arrest.
