AINRC to support AIADMK nominee in Nellithope by-poll

The All India NR Congress (AINRC) today announced its decision to extend support to the AIADMK nominee for the November 19 by-election in Nellithope Assembly segment here.
After chairing the party's executive committee meeting today, its founder and leader of the Opposition in Puducherry Assembly, N Rangasamy told reporters here that his party has decided to support the AIADMK nominee Om Sakthi Segar.
He said a resolution was adopted unanimously by the party to support Segar fielded by AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa.
Rangasamy said his party also prayed for the speedy recovery of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, who is at present undergoing treatment in a hospital in Chennai.

Terming the by-poll as "an imposed poll," Rangasamy said, "AINRC wants to teach an effective lesson to Congress and its nominee V Narayanasamy and hence we have decided to support AIADMK."
"There have been several instances of misuse of power by Congress in the context of elections in the Union Territory and money power has reigned supreme during the poll," he alleged.

Rangasamy also stated that the AINRC had written a detailed letter to the Election Commission drawing its attention to the situation.
Replying to a query, the AINRC leader said he and his party functionaries would embark upon a poll campaign in Nellithope constituency seeking support for the AIADMK nominee.

"I appeal to the electorate in the constituency to vote for Segar and ensure his victory and thereby teach a lesson to the Congress and its nominee," he added.
