AIPMT cheating: Haryana police forms SIT

Haryana Police today formed a Special Investigation Team to carry out an in depth probe into the arrest of two dentists and an MBBS student among others for allegedly passing on answer keys to some students during the All India Pre-Medical and Pre-Dental Entrance Test (AIPMT) on May 3.
"The SIT has been constituted. It will be headed by DSP Rohtak, Amit Bhatia and also consists of incharge of CIA-2 unit (of Rohtak police) Inspector Vijay and incharge of Rohtak STF (Special Task Force) Sub Inspector Rakesh," Rohtak SP, Shashank Anand said.
He further said that Rohtak police has "officially informed CBSE also (about the development)."
"I have spoken to Controller of Examination, CBSE and sought the Board's assistance in expediting the probe... authenticity of answer key has to be verified, we have got in touch with CBSE on our own. We will try to get certain details..," the SP said.
Rohtak Range IG Shrikant Jadhav said that efforts are on to arrest key accused in the case, Roop Singh Dangi.
"Many things would become clear once he is caught," the IG said.

Not ruling out the possibility of arrested persons having links with similar crime operating in other states, he said the accused were being questioned and more facts will come to light in the course of time.
Earlier, the police arrested the four accused who were identified as Bhupinder and Sanjeet, both dentists, MBBS student Ravi of Noida and Rajesh of Gadhi Khedi village in the district.
During investigations, it came to light that the accused were working in collusion with Rohtak-based Roop Singh Dangi who had provided them with "answer keys". Dangi is on the run, police said.
Police are probing at least nine candidates with whom a deal between Rs 15-20 lakh was struck by the accused to help them pass the examination.
