An elated Vipul said he's glad that he has been able to make his parents proud.
"I was also offered a scholarship for my medical coaching by a private coaching institute. I come from a humble family and my parents had to face lot of hardships to meet my education expenses," Vipul, who wants to become a cardiologist, told PTI.
Khushi, who aspires to pursue endocrinology as her specialisation, said the second round of the test helped her better her performance.
In a statement, CBSE said, "While declaring the result, wait list of four times of the seats has also been prepared and provided to the Directorate General of Health Services for the purpose of counselling. Accordingly, the total number of candidates placed in merit and wait list are 18,610."
In addition to 15 per cent seats, the admission will also be made under state quota in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Odisha, Rajasthan, Chandigarh and Delhi.
The decision to re-conduct the examination came after the Supreme Court's direction to CBSE following allegations of large-scale irregularities in the examination held on May 3.
A dress code was prescribed for the test and all the candidates were frisked prior to the examination. More than one lakh officials had ensured the successful and fair conduct of examination, CBSE said.
