Air Force doctor's maid found dead

A maid working at the official residence of a senior Air Force official was today found dead under mysterious circumstances in Jorhat district.
Superintendent of Police Amanjit Kaur said the maid's body was found this morning from the premises of the staff quarter of the IAF station at Rowriah.
Kaur said it was a case of murder and investigation is on to nab the culprits.
DSP (HQ) S Hussain said the body was identified to be of Monmoon Saikia (24) and it had cut mark on the left side of her neck with her face pressed with a pillow.
Saikia, who hailed from Titabor town in the district, was working as domestic help at the residence of Lt Col Saurav Sood, a physician of 5 Air Force Hospital in Jorhat.
Sood was out of station since Sunday as he had left for Kolkata on official duty.

Saikia, a widow, was working at Sood's house for the last five months. Her two children are looked after by her late husband's elder brother.
Police said her aunt Arati Gogoi peeped through the window and saw her body in a pool of blood after getting a foul smell from her room.
Gogoi rushed to Sood's residence and called his wife, who along with the maid's aunt broke the lock and informed the police.
Though sniffer dogs were pressed into service, it is very difficult get a clue due to continuous raining, Hussain said.
