Air India CMD's tenure extended by three months

The government has given three-month extension to Air India chief Rohit Nandan and asked competent authority to complete the selection process of the new incumbent in the meantime.
Nandan, a 1982 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, was appointed as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the cash strapped air carrier for three years in August 2011.
He has been given extension for a period of three months with effect from today with the direction that the process of selection of a new CMD may be completed in the meantime, said an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
The Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) has approved extension of six months in tenure of Anil Swarup as Additional Secretary, Secretariat for Cabinet Committee on Investment (CCI) in Cabinet Secretariat with effect from September 1.
Swarup is a 1981 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre.
Senior IAS officer V K Subburaj has been appointed as Secretary, National Commission for Scheduled Castes.
Subburaj, a 1980 batch IAS officer of Tamil Nadu cadre, is presently Secretary, Department of AIDS Control.
The vacancy has necessitated following superannuation of J N Chamber, a 1980 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre.
